N E W M U S I C : ' T H E T O K Y O S E S S I O N S '

The Tokyo Sessions feature reimagined versions of 'They've Come Into My Home', 'Can You Hear Me Talking At You' and 'Grand Mal' from Manor's debut self-titled EP.

Taking a break from writing and recording, the band travelled to Japan in September 2015 and fell instantly in love with the country. The thriving, bustling cities and the manicured gardens of the temples and shrines therein. The slow, ancient forests and mountains with untouched snow and surging rivers. The little villages dotted throughout the islands where locals carry on centuries-old traditions and welcome visitors warmly to share their homes.

Taking inspiration from their experiences, the band decided to revisit their EP with a focus on at-once simple and complex arrangements, paying homage to the rich and varied offering of Japanese culture.

Original cover artwork and photography by Manor, using photographs taken during the trip.

We've been asked about lyrics for this one for a while, I guess we just assumed they were on the internet somewhere, so I never wrote them out. Having googled them this morning I realise that those lyric bots don't always get it right...

ARCHITECTURE

Oh we fall so in love with the discord,

Long live the night, we save it from the morning light.

Oh, don't try to believe it, leave it. Uh huh.

Don't try to believe it, leave it. Uh huh.

Seek me a'morn,

Well, nothing's lost and nothing's gained now I am gone.

Oh, don't try to believe it, leave it. Uh huh.

Don't try to believe it, leave it. Uh huh.

Oh we fall so in love with the discord... the discord... the discord.

Oh, don't try to believe it, leave it. Uh huh.

Don't try to believe it, leave it. Uh huh.

This song is about those stupid little arguments between lovers that end up going all night and somebody walks out. No one gets what they want out of it and you realise that the passion you spent on the disagreement has been wasted.

This song is about a relationship that's just for show, where the couple are barely intimate in private but they act like everything is fine. They use each other for status and popularity, never truly getting to know each other and really trust one another. One of them wakes up...

They've Come Into My Home

They've come into my home, they've come into your home,

They've come into my home and let it all undo,

In my home.

I beg your forgiveness, you don't want to give it,

I try to be worthy, I'll never be again,

You don't deserve it anyway.

It's all I want from you: just gratitude.

It's all I'll ever do: I'll love you true.

Graciously sparing me any kind of intimacy,

You underestimate me, baby, I could break you.

Graciously sparing me any kind of pain and torture,

I love that you decide for me,

What you think is best for me.

Do you know what they say when I tell them about you?

They say I should leave you and never turn around...

I tend to agree now.

Your lies and deception have come into my home,

You took my life and you turned it upside down...

But now I can see you for what you are.

I love that you decide for me, what you think is best...

They've come into my home (they've come into my home, they've come into your home)

They've come into my home (they've come into my home, and let it all...)

They've come into my home (they've come into my home, they've come into your home)

They've come into my home (they've come into my home, and let it all...)

The second single from our EP, 'Grand Mal' is out now, and we're getting a few questions about why we named it thus. A Grand Mal is a type of seizure which can be utterly devastating. We recently witnessed how much damage it can cause when a close friend of ours started getting them. This song is about how painful and all-consuming it can be to suffer from something like this, and to watch someone you love go through it. Here are the lyrics for those who've asked.

G R A N D  M A L

We're all waiting,

For the pieces,

To come raining,

To come pouring,

From your eyes.

 I know you mean well

Don't keep me guessing,

Keep me waiting,

Keep me hoping,

When there is no hope.

We've been waiting for such a long time,

Now it's started and it's blowing my mind,

I wanna be your lover but I'm tired and how...

I know you mean well.

Don't keep me waiting (I know you mean well),

Keep me guessing (I know you mean well),

Keep me hoping,

When there is no hope.

We’ve had a few requests for the lyrics to ‘Can You Hear Me Talking At You’ so we thought we’d post them here. Hopefully this finds its way to those who’ve asked.

C A N  Y O U  H E A R  M E  T A L K I N G  A T  Y O U

You've journeyed far across the universe,
You've seen more than most,
And set your sights on an elusive prize,
Battling with your ghost.

Can you see it, conceit,
You're the messenger.
Can you see me,
Can you hear me talking at you?

The very vision of a gentleman,
Say you like it rough,
And always swallowing the bitter pill,
Isn't love enough?

Can you see it, conceit,
You're the messenger.
Can you see me,
Can you hear me talking at you?

Can you see me?
Can you see me?
Can you see me?
Can you see...

Can you see it, conceit,
You're the messenger.
Can you see me,
Can you hear me talking at you?

Can you see?
Can see, conceit.
Can you see?
Can you see me, can you hear me?
